DESIGN BRIEF

Ready for Takeoff is a landmark publication by Professional Footballers Australia, setting the agenda for the continued growth of women’s football nationally. Starting from a detailed manuscript, I developed a series of creative concepts before working with the PFA team to refine and combine the strongest elements into a final visual direction.

The goal was to create a report that felt distinct from PFA’s regular publications. One that captured the energy, grit and momentum of football while maintaining editorial clarity. The final design introduces a bold visual language built around textured graphic treatments and structured image framing, creating a cohesive system that carries rhythm and intensity across the document. Photography is either deep-etched or contained within custom textured frames to reinforce visual continuity and a strong thematic identity.

A significant component of the project involved designing a wide range of infographics. Unique conceptual diagrams were developed to communicate strategic ideas in a clear, logical way, alongside the styling of graphs, charts and tables to ensure consistency and readability. Each pillar of the report is colour-coded to support navigation and make complex information easier to reference.

The result is a visually distinctive publication that balances strong creative direction with functional communication, transforming research and strategy into an engaging, accessible report that supports PFA’s vision for women’s football.
